| 2008-10-28 21:31 | The world of a baby | Why would we want to know anything about it? Because understanding the world of our babies means we can help them develop their full potential as human beings. Not understanding is grit and holds our baby back. Babies communicate their needs and parents have an inbuilt instinct to understand a baby's language. However, we have to learn to listen and trust this instinct in order to be able to understand our babies' world. Parenting is not easy and 'quick fix' parenting methods (such as letting our baby cry) do a lot of harm in the long term and should be avoided. A crying baby is trying to communicate a message, we should find out what it is and respond appropriately. Letting a baby cry feeds back the message that no one listens, that no one cares. In the long run this can create emotionally damaged human beings.
